Bridging past and present, this visually stunning documentary chronicles Kapu’s struggles through both the courts and his own community, weaving through enduring legacies of plantation agriculture and the impacts of modern mili-tourism.
With archival and contemporary projections of community link songs, chants, animations, digital cartography, field recordings, legal texts and interviews, this cinematic reflection of Indigenous resilience captures so much more than the legacy of Kapu, it’s produced a roadmap for future generations fighting for sovereignty in Hawai’i.
